Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel was on-hand on behalf of the Windsor Spitfires Foundation at CentralPark Athletics this morning, for the official launch of the new F.J. Brennan Centre of Excellence and
Innovation’s Hockey Canada Skills Academy.
A combined project of the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board and Hockey Canada, the academy is a
new, open-boundary initiative designed to encourage students who wish to focus on academic success while
pursuing their passion for hockey.
In support of the academy's launch, the Windsor Spitfires Foundation has pledged $6,000 per year over the next three
years, to help offset annual student registration costs.
“This is a great new program that will benefit student athletes in our community,” Rychel said. “For years, the
foundation has supported local hockey programs. We're happy to help build a foundation for this one and look
forward to helping the academy succeed for years to come.”
